Because MS Vista incorporates the User Access Control (UAC) suite to reduce the machine's malware vulnerability when 'Administrator' access is used, special instructions for installing VisualAPL may be applicable (expecially for 64-bit Windows Vista):

Uninstall any previous versions of VisualAPL

If this is the first time you have installed VisualAPL, download and install the APLNext Activation software, version 1.0.4100, available from this address:
 http://www.aplnext.com/downloads/download_aplnext/536.aspx

Download the latest version of VisualAPL. For example the VisualAPL Professional Edition is available from this this address:
 http://www.aplnext.com/downloads/downloads_apl_prod_verx/default.aspx

Install VisualAPL using the following these steps:
1. Create a shortcut for the VisualAplExpressSetup_v*.msi file download file.
2. Open the Properties window for the newly created shortcut and prepend the following to the command in the Target line : c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe /i
 Include a blank space after the "/i" to separate the prefix from the remainder of the Target line command.
3. Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties window.
4. Right mouse click the shortcut and click the "Run as administrator" option and follow the prompts.

Activate your copy of VisualAPL with the provided License ID and activation key.  To start the activation program, open Windows Explorer to the folder:

 "c:\Program Files\AplNext\AplNextActivation".

Right mouse click the file AplNext.ActivationApp.exe and click the "Run as administrator" option and follow the prompts.
